Jute is the national pride, identity, tradition and cultural heritage of Bangladesh. It is one of the very few natural and rapidly growing fibres in the world having economic value. Bengal Braided Rugs Limited understood the versatility of this fibre and believed that it was a gift to man from nature that can find various uses in the form of handicrafts. BBRL came into being in 1997 with a mission to rapidly expand jute into a wide range of lifestyle consumer products and started manufacturing high quality yarns. Today, the factory produces the best quality jute yarns in the country, bleached, dyed and blended in exotic colours and different compositions, in single and multiple twists according to various specifications in order to suit the customer needs. The company is comprised of a powerfully experienced team of people and strongly believes in all round development of the proficient team members. It also organises timely workshops and skill development classes for the experts, which help them, to learn about the changing market trends and manufacture the products accordingly.

The uses of jute are manifolds and the traditional excellence of Bangladeshi craftsmen & artisans is reflected in a wide range of jute handicrafts because of its utility, decoration and novelty. With this in mind and with an objective to use jute in new, alternative and non-traditional ways BBRL has been producing handmade jute diversified products in floor covering and handicrafts since a very long time. The company produces a beautiful mosaic of jute handicrafts that comprises of jute rugs, jute bags and handbags and jute baskets with a unique blend of aesthetic appeal and utility. BBRL relies on close to 400 workers, most of whom are women to braid colourful yarn into different patterns. Most of these women have minimal education, skills and training, but manage to earn a steady income for their families and themselves. These women play a very important role in poverty eradication and improving their overall level of living. Their involvement and contribution in the household economic activities has been an addition to their participation in the domestic factor.
